Hospital Creek Hut via Yankee Hat and Frank and Jacks Hut
Details
Walk into the Yankee Hat Rock Art site, Frank and Jacks Hut and then to Hospital Hut starting from the Yankee Hat carpark. The KHA listings for these two huts are at https://www.khuts.org/index.php/huts/namadgi-national-park-huts/frank-and-jacks-in-the-sallees and https://www.khuts.org/index.php/huts/namadgi-national-park-huts/hospital-creek-hut .
The route I have planned covers parts of former grazing properties, open grassland and both plantation and native forest. I estimate it will be about 16 km, with around 450-500 m of climb and maximum slope of around 17%. The route It is a Grade 3 walk on the Aussie Bushwalking grading scale (https://www.aussiebushwalking.com/grading).
Note that while I have walked all the individual elements of this walk, this is the first time that I have linked those together as a single walk.
We will meet at the Namadgi NP Visitors Centre and car pool to the start point at the Yankee Hat car park.
Four places on this walk will be reserved for first time walkers. Note, though, that these places will not be available to a guest of a first time walker. If you are a first time walker, and RSVP with a guest, you do so knowing that your guest may not get a place on the going list.
I plan to take two breaks, a snack/rest break at Frank and Jacks Hut and then a lunch break at Hospital Hut. Bring your own food and drink for these breaks.
NB: Those participating in the walk are responsible for their own safety and well being, should be adequately prepared and take sufficient food, water, and warm clothing for their individual needs.
