The Australian Government Department of Health is seeking PhD students and interns to explore innovative research, applying deep learning techniques to answer real-world problems in the Australian healthcare system.
The proposed opportunity relates to a planned Australian Research Council Linkage Grant with the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). This prospect offers the chance for high-quality research candidates to join a three-year research collaboration, working with health policy experts within the department and computer science experts from UTS to provide data-driven analytics and insights. It would be possible to have a co- supervisor who is based at one of the universities in Canberra, such as ANU, if desired.
This opportunity would be placed in the Analytics Projects and Futures Section in the Department of Health. This section conducts a range of analytics projects that apply existing and innovative methods to health data. We work with policy experts to apply these techniques, providing support and evidence for policy development and improving health policy decision making in the department.
