Twitter, Social Media & Elon Musk, or, How I learned to love/hate Free Speech.

“Elon Musk did not buy an app, he bought a crime scene.”

For our January CCC meetup, we will be discussing Twitter “BE” (before Elon) and “SE” (since Elon) and how the legacy media has been reacting (or ignoring altogether) the release of the Twitter files, and why.

Whether or not you’re on Twitter, you should care about what’s going on as free speech is the bedrock of a free and open society.

As of this writing, there have been six twitter files releases: 1. The Hunter Biden Laptop situation 2. Shadow banning specific Twitter users and tweets 3. President Trump suspension 4. January 6th "insurrection" 5. President Trump official banning from Twitter 6. FBI collusion with Twitter. Musk has also stated that there will be document files released regarding how Twitter treated those who questioned the official Covid and vaccine narrative.

Some folks do say that Twitter is a private company so they can basically operate how they see fit. However, Twitter sold itself as a neutral platform open to all voices and opinions. Is it, and has it been a neutral platform in practise?

Five minutes ago, Elon Musk was a darling of the Left because of his electric car, now some of those very same folks are accusing him of being a far right extremist. It’s difficult to keep up!
