Beyond Left and Right ...What Comes Next for the UK?
Details
**ADVANCE NOTICE** There will NOT be a CCC meetup in April. After this March meetup, our next meet will be Sunday 17 May.
British politics has long been a battle between basically a party on the Left vs one on the Right, but in 2026, that language often feels increasingly detached from how Brits actually see the world.
Our guest speaker, Sebastian Moore, is the North West Chair of the Social Democratic Party and is standing/stood as their candidate in the Gorton and Denton by-election.
Drawing on his recent campaign experiences, Sebastian will reflect on what he heard from voters. From frustration with the establishment parties, to the growth of the Greens, to the emergence of a new party on the Right, Restore Britain. The political landscape appears to be shifting in real time. Is the traditional left–right divide still meaningful, or are new political identities and loyalties taking shape?
Rather than delivering a party political pitch, Sebastian will use his experiences to open up a wider group discussion about the state of politics in the UK in 2026, and the question that a lot of people are asking...what comes next?
Join CCC Manchester for stimulating and fresh conversation and debate. We’re a friendly, welcoming bunch, and many folks even choose to stay well past 4pm to continue the discussion! Grab a drink at the bar and come upstairs for some lively, open and honest chat. All good faith opinions are welcomed and respected. We don't charge for our events but we do ask for a small cash donation to help pay for expenses.
