Donner Lake - Paddling and hiking  July 8 to 14

No inflatables, folding boats, or SUP’s. Minimum boat lengths 12 feet.
Located near Truckee in the beautiful Sierra Nevada, Donner Memorial State Park offers opportunities for camping, picnicking, boating, fishing, water-skiing, and hiking. The Visitor Center features compelling new exhibits that tell the stories of the Emigrant Experience, the Donner Party, the Land of the Washoe, Chinese construction of the railroad, and early motoring adventures over Donner Pass.

***Camping and Day Use –***The campground has 154 sites and a day-use area along the lake with picnic tables, restrooms, a beach, fishing, and a lakeside interpretive trail. Max. length: Trailer is 24’; motorhome is 28’.

Each family is responsible for their own reservations, equipment, and meals. We will gather for happy hour at 5 pm each evening to discuss plan for the next day. And we will have a pot luck dinner one evening. Bring your own chair and beverage. I plan to hike and/or paddle every day. Lunch will often be on the trail or beach.

PLEASE READ THIS: The organizers of this trip are not experts, not professional paddlers and do not necessarily have safety training or carry any safety equipment. Each paddler must have the training, experience and equipment required to complete this paddle safely, and must assume all personal risks. A Coast Guard approved life jacket or Personal Flotation Device must be worn by everyone while on the water.
