Tomales Bay kayak camping - Feb 15 to 17
Details
I have been kayaking here before and it's a nice trip when the weather cooperates. RSVP only if you are serious about going. If enough people sign up, I will make a reservation for our group, as there are still spots available on Recreation.gov. The cost of the permit will be shared by everyone that RSVP’s.
Your 2025 waiver must be on file for you to be moved to the “Going” list. Meetup message Ken N for the waiver form.
No inflatables, Oru’s, or SUP’s, minimum boat length 14 feet. Limited to 8 experienced paddlers.
Meetup Address: Miller Boat Launch Next To Nick's Cove Restaurant 23240 California 1 · Marshall, CA. Parking is free in the upper parking area provided you put the camping permit on the dashboard of your vehicle.
Meetup: 10:00 am. On the water by 11:00 am
We will camp in one of the Marshall Beach designated boat-in group sites. There are no improvements, no water, no toilet, no tables, just a place to camp. This is a trip for experienced campers and paddlers. This is a “leave no trace area,” so everything must be packed in and out. Each boat must carry your own camp gear, food, water and poop bags.
This trip is during President's Day weekend on Sat 2/15 and Sun 2/16 for 2 nights and return to Miller’s Landing on Monday Feb. 17. We will schedule day trips depending on paddlers’ desire. Paddlers should be able to perform assisted rescue (as swimmers and as rescuers) with fully loaded boats in at least one-foot waves and 15 mph wind.
This is not a trip for beginners, only intermediate or above. DRESS FOR IMMERSION! Bring change of clothes for after the paddles.
The cost is $10, which covers the camping reservation fee. More info will be provided as the date gets closer. This is not a trip for beginners; only Advanced Beginners Level 2 or higher.
