What we’re about
你好! Nei Hou! If you are a native Cantonese speaker or just trying to learn and practice your Cantonese with other locals in the area, we are happy to have you join us.
Our goal is to make this group inclusive, diverse, and available to everyone, including non-native speakers. We are here to support and encourage each other through the language and culture of Cantonese. All levels and experiences are welcome.
Fun activities include food and drink events, discussion groups, hikes and walks, game nights, karaoke, physical sports, and more.

See all- Hot Pot (打邊爐) Potluck in a Park!Ridgewood View Park, Portland, OR
Let's have a Hot Pot picnic in a park!
With the weather getting nicer and daylight lasting longer, it would be nice to do more activities outdoors. I'd like to try something novel and different, so why not combine a hot pot potluck and have it at a nice park setting for an evening picnic?
Location: Ridgewood View Park, 10001 SW Ardenwood St, Portland, OR 97225. (Ridgewood View Park is located at the intersection of Hwy 217 and Hwy 26 in Beaverton. It is a smaller venue and parking is limited. However there is lots of street parking just down the hill.)
Me: I will bring two pots with burners, soup base (spicy and non-spicy), and a few ingredients I like to share. I will also have utensils and bowls for our use.
I plan on arriving by 5:30 or so to set up. We can use the space until it gets dark.
You: Bring ingredients you like to share. (Unfortunately, no alcohol plz!) Enjoy the company of others.
Here is our list for people to indicate what they are bringing (please plan for 10 people):

Our next Mahjong Open Play session!
Come join our community to learn and play the game at Collective Oregon Eateries (CORE), an indoor food hall with ample seating and gated parking.
We invite Mahjong enthusiasts of all skill levels to play, from complete beginners to experienced masters. While there are many variations of Mahjong, our sessions will primarily focus on the Hong Kong style. This is a casual play event with no formal instruction. However, a reference sheet is available at https://www.portlandcantoneseplayandlearn.com/mahjong.
We also recommend this helpful video tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JGsb87PEIo.
Not interested in Mahjong? We would still love to have you join us! Our spacious venue provides plenty of table space, so feel free to bring along alternative board games or card games.
We encourage everyone to enjoy the social atmosphere, practice Cantonese, and explore the delicious offerings from local food cart vendors.
