During shoulder season, when it's too cold for wet canyons and not enough snow for skiing or mountaineering, Death Valley is a pleasant escape. The trip is rated as intermediate due to temporary anchors used descending the canyons.

Itinerary -------------------

We will be car camping at Furnace Creek campground. Although we have stayed at the Slabs in prior years, Furnace Creek is more centrally located saving drive time, gas, its warmer and has bathrooms. We are looking at booking one site to host up to 8 people, and if we should reach the limit we may look into getting another spot if they are still available.

Thursday is Thanksgiving day and in tradition, we will be having a group dinner. More details to come.

Your participation is at discretion of the event host / organizer.

Required Skills: Each canyon brings on it's own set of challenges. As this is an intermediate level trip, if I have not been on a canyon adventure with you, your profile must be completely filled out in order for me to properly assess your skills. Failure to do so will have you removed from the RSVP list.

Canyoneering Gear - minimum required for participation in canyon events:

Helmet (meets UIAA standards)

Harness

Rappelling Device

Extra Locking Carabiners (3 or 4)

Safety Tether

Gloves (optional but recommended)

Footwear appropriate to conditions

You should also bring: a pack, water (2-3 liters per person), Lunch/snack, clothing appropriate to anticipated weather incl a wind jacket, puffy, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc.
