Saturday: meet at Little Cottonwood Canyon park and ride at 8:00 am to run Great White Icicle https://goo.gl/maps/unieLbZkiSLmdqBq7

Sunday: meet at Stewart Falls, Alpine Loop parking lot 8:00am. https://goo.gl/maps/DDXJxu3d2629HHHw5. Parking fee 6$ at kiosk

Prep meeting 8/,19/24 7 pm.

Gear:
Harness, helmet, minimum 3 carabineers, safety tether, rappel device, no ATCs, good grip shoes, preferably climbing approach shoes or canyoning boots designed for water.

What to pack in your pack:
Ultra-light waterproof jacket
Lightweight Prima Loft jacket
Under Armor long sleeve shirt
Microfleece stocking cap
Gloves
Emergency blanket
Snacks, meals
Water, Nalgenes or water bottles, no bladders, they don’t hold up in though canyons
Beta and/or GPS
Toilet paper, Wee Bags
Sunscreen

#Wet Canyon Survival Gear List
Full Wet suit 3/4 mm, for Grade II to IV rated canyons
Inner proplypro layer, shirt and or pants, wicks sweat and transfers to other layers
5 mL Neoprene booties, keep feet warm and keep sand out of shoe
Neoprene skull cap
Neoprene gloves
Waterproof rain jacket shell
Vinyl Backpack with drain wholes
Dry bags for food and keeping clothes dry
Dry box for gadgets (camera and GPS)
Boots if you have them
Approach shoes

*The American Canyoneering Academy recommended signals involve both long and short blasts:

  • 1 long blast = stop/attention.
  • 2 long blasts = off rope.
  • 3 long blasts = lower the rope
  • 4 long blasts = take up the rope
