Who are we? The Canyoning Chicks Coalition is an organization founded in Salt Lake City, UT, that is committed to increasing the number of women involved in canyoning and developing the skills necessary to canyon safely and be self-sufficient on canyoning trips. We are also excited to train more women to become canyon leaders and guides through our certification process. Please check out the Canyoning Institute at https://canyoninginstitute.org. We offer free online courses to help you learn technical canyoning skills. You can also find us on Facebook and Instagram under Canyoning Chicks Coalition.

This is a beginner-level workshop that consists of a skills day at Whitewash Cliffs in Albuquerque, NM, on Saturday, and an in-canyon day at either Portrillo Canyon in White Rock, NM, on Sunday.
The meeting area for Whitewash cliffs is actually at the Piedra Lisa TH parking lot, which meetup won’t let us select for some reason, but the coordinates are: 35°06'44.3"N 106°29'17.9"W. Whitewash has a short approach and the 95ft cliffs have several bolted anchor stations that are perfect for rappelling practice as well as other skills.
We will be running Portrillo Canyon on Sunday. We will coordinate carpools to the trailhead on Saturday after ground school day. The parking area for Portrillo is at the Big Enchilada Trailhead on Google Maps.
We will also have a potluck on Saturday evening! We will provide the location on Saturday at ground school.
No experience needed. We have gear for rent: $5 per item, Harness, helmet, rappel device, 3 carabiners, and safety tether. $25 for full gear setup.
