Older Adults’s Security and Privacy Practices in Online Dating
Paola Marmorato, Carleton University

There has been little work exploring older adults' security and privacy practices and concerns in online dating. The nature of online dating can leave users vulnerable, especially older adults who are often targeted for scams and not always feeling equipped to manage their online data. My research investigates older adults' privacy concerns and practices in online dating.

Paola is a UX researcher, and Master's in HCI student at Carleton University, who blends insights from her background in clinical psychology and technical support experience. She is actively involved in a collaborative project with NRC, Carleton University, and the University of Waterloo, investigating usable security for aging in place.

Following slow post-pandemic economic recovery of the downtown core accentuated by hybrid work models, the City of Ottawa is prioritizing revitalizing the downtown core through enhanced young adult participation to boost business revenue, tourism, safety and overall city image.
