Join us for an inspirational talk with Leon Lu!
Leon is a visionary researcher and designer whose work transforms the boundaries of accessibility and innovation. In this session, Leon will dive into making non-verbal communication accessible to blind and low vision musicians during performances and in learning environments. He will discuss the design and development of wearable haptic systems and provide insights into the development of haptic codes and future iterations of wearable haptics for communication.
About Leon
Leon Lu is a visionary researcher, designer, maker, and published author. He loves working with communities to solve complex problems and find meaningful insights and solutions. Through his PhD work, he has worked with blind and/or low vision musicians and learners to make the experience of learning to play music more equitable and enjoyable. He has expertise in accessibility research, tangible user interface design and evaluation (including wearables and haptics) and creative learning practices. As an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto Mississauga, Leon continues to push the frontiers of creative learning practices and inclusive design.
