Call to Artists: The Witching Hour 4: Cryptids

Enter the Realm of the Unexplained...

We will be accepting submissions for The Witching Hour, our upcoming open call exhibition exploring the eerie, the elusive, and the extraordinary world of cryptids.

From the shadows of the forest to the depths of the unknown, artists are invited to interpret creatures of legend — think Bigfoot, Mothman, Loch Ness Monster, Chupacabra, and beyond — as well as the folklore, mystery, and atmosphere that surround them.

THEME:
Cryptids, urban legends, mythological beasts, and mysterious encounters. Artwork may be literal or abstract— all mediums and all interpretations welcome.

Important Dates:

  • Receiving: Saturday, September 27, 9am-12pm
    & Monday, September 29, 9am-12pm
  • Reception: Friday, October 10, 5-7pm
  • Removal: Friday, October 31, 9am-12pm

Location: Cape Coral Art Center, Main Gallery, Building 1

All submitted artwork will be reviewed and juried by a guest judge, who brings a unique perspective and expertise. Selections will be based on creativity, craftsmanship, and relevance to the theme.

How to submit your art:
Bring up to three pieces of artwork in person and have the following information for each piece ready and be prepared to fill in a form with the following information for each piece:

  • Artist Name
  • Title
  • Medium
  • Price

Awards & Prizes:
Selected works will be eligible for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place awards, as well as an Honorable Mention Rubicond Award. Winners will be announced at the opening reception and will receive cash prizes in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the exhibition.

Step into The Witching Hour and help bring this world of cryptid myth and mystery to life. We can’t wait to see what emerges from the shadows of your imagination.

All submissions should be family-friendly. We ask that artists avoid graphic violence, explicit content, or disturbing imagery. This exhibition is intended to be welcoming and accessible to a broad audience, including children and families.
