Reimagining favorites. Read on fantasy or familiar tropes gone wild.

There are many standard tropes in both the literary as well as the cinematic universe, whether it's the idea of rich and poor people falling in love, or enemies transitioning to a romantic duo, or even just the idea that the best friend's sister is truly the one meant to be.

We may live amongst well-worn ideas, but occasionally there comes along an author who turns everything on its head. My task for you this month, is to read something that has taken a typical idea within the world of literature, and turned it on its head. This could take anything from the form of the princess saving herself (think Shrek), to a person choosing their career over the chance at happily ever after (think Inside Job - sidenote: watch this on Netflix).
