Beam me up, Scotty: Read about science fiction, time travel and aliens

Dearest Bookologists,

Science fiction, a genre always pushing the boundaries of what could be. So after last month's more intensive read, I invite you on something a bit more comforting, even if you may have to deal with some spooky aliens or perhaps, a spot of time travel.

So please read a book that is in the sci-fi genre, this book could be upbeat in its view of technology or humanity, or it could be somewhat pessimistic. I will give major bonus points to any reader who manages to find a science fiction book out of Africa, but I will also be very happy to see some more diverse reading on this topic in general.
