FinTech Builders and Enthusiasts - Save the date!

Join the Cape Town Future Tech Collective on Tuesday 17 November at Montclare Place, Claremont, Cape Town.

What we’ll talk about
South African payments are changing quickly. PayShap, the instant payment system, was handling around 45 million transactions a month by late 2025. Regulators are working on rules that could let non-banks connect directly to the payment system, and an open finance framework is expected from the FSCA. Internationally, banks and asset managers are testing stablecoins, tokenised funds and AI tools that can make payments on a customer’s behalf.

Some of this will reach customers soon, and some of it may not. There are trade-offs too. SABRIC reports that card fraud in South Africa rose 18% to R1.7 billion in 2025, and faster payments can mean faster scams.

The questions customers are asking:

  • Why is sending money overseas still expensive?
  • Do non-banks give customers a better deal?
  • Which new tech solves real problems, and which is still hype?

Expect a panel, audience Q&A, drinks and networking. Doors open at 18:30. Spaces are limited, so please RSVP.

Featuring:
