Agenda

Topic 1 .NET Standard

Technology needs to break down bearers to productivity. The future of .net standard has the potential to do so. Having seen the latest strides that Microsoft has been doing with .net standard, it is getting clearer that with the development tools available from Microsoft, developers can with ease build solutions that target more platforms at a faster pace.
.net standard gives developers a wider access to .net API’s and I will show how .net standard can be a utilised. As we move from Portable Class Libraries I will also outline how .net standard compares with .net core, .net framework and Xamarin.

Topic 2 Modernizing Projects

Do you want to have all the benefits of .NET Standard, but can’t get there just yet?
Are you working on a project that has huge project files? Do you have to share code using Shared Projects or File Linking? Are you packaging NuGets using complex scripts to update the .nuspec? Have you heard about this new .NET Standard project file with only a couple of lines of XML? Do you want that? Are you working on a project that can’t spend days trying to upgrade everything to the new-fangled .NET Standard or .NET Core?
Well, if you answer is YES to any of these questions, then come along and I will show you some ways in which you can embrace the modern world, WITHOUT changing any code files. The only changes will be new .csproj and removing all the junk from your build scripts.
