Agenda

Session 1
### Agent Skills: Teaching AI Agents to Be Experts in Markdown
AI coding agents are great generalists and poor specialists. Hand them a skill and that changes: it's a folder with a Markdown file of your conventions, workflows, and hard-won knowledge. Any agent that reads it becomes an "expert"
We'll cover what a skill is and the rules most people miss Then we'll build one live!
Speaker: Brett Miller
Session 2
### Building and Deploying Personal and Passion Projects with ASP.NET Core.
The project I'll be showcasing is CrimeSpot, a live crime awareness dashboard for Cape Town. Built for safety, not surveillance.
CrimeSpot is built as a modern, decoupled web application. The frontend is a Next.js progressive web app (PWA), delivering a fast, installable, mobile-friendly experience. The core backend — an ingestion API responsible for AI-powered extraction and geospatial storage — is built on ASP.NET Core , using minimal APIs for a lightweight, high-performance surface and EF Core with PostGIS for robust spatial data handling.
Expect a live demo and a practical view of choosing the right tool for each part of the stack.
Speaker: Malakai (Kai) Mathins
