What we’re about
Join us for our monthly Capital District Permaculture Meetup—a gathering for anyone interested in permaculture, and designing systems that work in harmony with the natural world. With various rotating topics of focus, we’ll chat about organic gardening, regenerative practices, sustainable landscaping, energy systems, composting, community, and more. As we face a myriad of social, economic, and ecological crises, permaculture offers us a tool kit for moving toward ecologically resilient communities.
The Capital District Permaculture Meetup is a collaborative, non-hierarchical space for shared learning, meaningful conversations, and collective growth. Rooted in mutual respect, we celebrate diverse perspectives and foster a community where everyone’s voice is equally valued. Monthly gatherings feature seasonally relevant permaculture topics, guided by rotating facilitators who support inclusive dialogue rather than assuming leadership. Decisions are made through thoughtful consensus, ensuring that all contributions shape the group’s direction. We reject hierarchy and guru-led structures, embracing co-creation, active listening, and shared responsibility to model permaculture principles of interconnectedness and regenerative growth. Welcome to the circle!
We also share permaculture and permaculture adjacent events put on by those within our group. Please reach out to an organizer if you want your event to be shared.

- Earth Kinship Reading CircleHonest Weight, Albany, NY
Join us for a welcoming reading circle dedicated to exploring ways in which we can cultivate a meaningful connection with the Earth. Focused on accessible writings and reflections that bridge ecological understanding with a sense of reverence, belonging, and responsibility toward the natural world, this circle invites participants into thoughtful conversation and shared inquiry. Each session will include group reading, reflection, and discussion.
Our first gathering will explore the “North American Continent” chapter from Thomas Berry’s The Great Work as we consider the ecological history of this land and how we might move toward a more life-sustaining future.
Noble Silence or Noble Voice—Your Choice
In this circle, both quiet presence and spoken reflection are equally welcomed and valued. Inspired by Earth-connected traditions where silence holds as much wisdom as words, there is never an expectation to read aloud or speak. You are welcome to join us in quiet presence, taking part in the experience in whatever way feels right to you.Facilitator Rich Daley, www.sunraysustainability.com
