Summer Wildflower Walk at Lock 4 State Canal Park

Details

PLEASE NOTE: This walk begins at 10am to avoid the hottest part of the day.

Lock 4 State Canal Park is located along the Champlain Canal in the Town of Schaghticoke. We’ll meet at the parking area at the southern end of Canal Road. We’ll then hike the 1.5-mile nature trail along the bluff overlooking the scenic confluence of the Hoosaic and Hudson Rivers. The trail is a footpath with exposed tree roots and we will explore a small area of shoreline along the Hoosic River with some muddy patches – please wear proper footwear.

Weather cancellation: This event will be cancelled if any of the following is occurring or is forecast for this destination at that time:

  • thunderstorms (or any other severe weather),
  • moderate or heavy rainfall (i.e., more than drizzle/mist or intermittent showers), or
  • gusty or sustained winds (i.e., treetops are noticeably swaying back and forth).
