Foraging for Wild Edibles: Nannyberry

Details

PLEASE NOTE: To attend, you must (1) RSVP to reserve your spot (as this event will be limited to 11 participants) AND (2) send an email request to [david.behm.curiousbynature@gmail.com](mailto:david.behm.curiousbynature@gmail.com) for directions as to where we will meet.

Prior to this foraging walk, please view Foraging for Wild Edibles: Nannyberry for tips on how to identify this plant and how to forage for it. You may also want to peruse some recipes for your culinary consideration by viewing my prior post, Nannyberry in Autumn: Tasty fruit, then beautiful fall color!, published on 9/22/2019. For a majority of this foraging walk, you’ll be stepping off the trail into tall grass areas and amongst shrubs; please wear proper attire and footwear.

PLEASE NOTE: You may keep what you pick, but each participant’s harvested amount will be limited to ensure that we collectively don’t overharvest the fruit produced this year.

Throughout our foraging walk at Garnsey Park (Town of Clifton Park), we’ll also observe and identify the wildflowers in bloom that we encounter.

Weather cancellation: This event will be cancelled if any of the following is occurring or is forecast for this destination at that time:

  • thunderstorms (or any other severe weather),
  • moderate or heavy rainfall (i.e., more than drizzle/mist or intermittent showers), or
  • gusty or sustained winds (i.e., treetops are noticeably swaying back and forth).
