Astroscape Photography - Historic Railway Bridge near Toodyay

We have had requests for another night at this location and your wish is my command!
Astroscape describes a genre of photography which has the stars in the shot with something as foreground interest. It is what most of us think Astro should be but to a purist Astro photography is only deep space.
We have found a new location about an hour East of Midland on Toodyay Rd. It will give us awesome foreground interest of an historic wooden railway bridge. This is on private land but we have got permission from the land owner to bring the group there. It is actually on the property of a family run winery and is home also to an amazing old wine cellar full of wooden barrels which are over 100 years old, the photo opportunities even without going out side are fantastic.
We will meet at 5:00 so that we can spend a little bit of time photographing in the cellar before we walk 300 metres down the track to set up for our Milky Way shots. The wine is really good too and although we will not be charged an entry fee I would encourage you to purchase a bottle (or 6!) to take home.
Please note this location will carry a small amount of risk. The 150 year old bridge is in poor repair having been decommissioned in the late 60's and runs across a valley and whilst that adds to it's charm it also adds to the hazards. You come at your own risk and I will require you to sign a waiver before the session.

We welcome all cameras although some cameras are better than others for astro so if you have any doubts please get in touch with me before you book. You will ideally need a wide angle 'fast' lens for astro. This means a lens this can let a lot of light in to the sensor with a wide aperture of between F 1:2 - F3:5 or F4 although this is getting a bit 'slow'. Our meetups start with a brief of how to set the camera for the topic. They are fun and informative with likeminded people and the professional photographer on hand to assist throughout the session.

Anna-Mair Francis is a professional fine art photographer having held several successful exhibitions which were held in high regard with many positive reviews. She has images displayed all over the world. She is a very successful teacher having had many of her former pupils going on to achieve awards and be highly respected photographers in there own right. She is highly regarded by the people she has taught and the methods she uses to teach them photography. She is very patient and understanding and works on the philosophy that there is no such thing as a silly question.
