Float Baptist Camp to Cedar Grove on the Current.

Details
We are going to camp and float and camp some more. This stretch of river can be a challenge, so a good sense of adventure is needed. As of 4/2/23 there was a tree down in the river at the put in. So unless the park service cuts it out we have a portage right off the bat. Yes, it will be that type of trip. After learning what else might be down stream I recommend this not being your first or second float.
We will use Jadwin. They unfortunately are not on the river, very few are so they will drive us up to Baptist camp and pick us up at Cedar Grove. They have rentals and livery service. For those who want to shelf shuttle it is 24 miles from put in to take out. See photos of what Baptist camp put in looks like. I am renting a sit on so those who want to self-shuttle will have to work it out amongst yourselves. Jadwin is now fully open their number is 573-729-5229. We will be using camp area 14 see the map in the photos and what the site looks like. Just down from 14 are electric sites. It is your responsibility to prearrange your boat and to let them know you are camping. I suggest within a week or two. Just down the road within walking distance from the campground is a general store with a café that sells breakfast and other food from the grill. Burgers fries that type thing. They are open 7 to 7 so if you don’t want to cook they can do it for you. If you are coming from the East, it is quicker to go through St James to get down to Salem instead of Cuba and Steelville.
No glass or Styrofoam on the river. A sense of humor is recommended. This is a blue-ribbon trout stream. If you plan to fish it is up to you to know the rules and have proper license regarding a blue-ribbon area.
Between this group and another there is currently 28 attendees. While not an adult only event if you bring your children know there will probably be some consumption of alcohol, marijuana (I never thought I would have to add about weed to a meet up write up) and coarse language.
For you folks who may not want to float Ray from Beyond the Trail will be investigating activities.
