Cardboard Buddies welcomes you to the group's fourth board game meetup.
Join us at the Barley Twist pub from 1pm to 8pm. The event is held downstairs at the wine cellar.
There is a £4 fee payable on attendance to cover the costs of the function room.
We will have a taster selection of board games with us. Expect to see:
- Forest Shuffle
- Hanami
- Take Time
- Container
- Wondrous Creatures
- Endeavor: Deep Sea
- and others
You are very much encouraged to bring your own games if you'd like.
By attending, you agree to follow our code of conduct for events:
1. Attendees must be on the meetup event guest list. Please do not attend if you are on the waiting list or haven’t registered for the event. Plus ones are not allowed – each attendee must sign up for the event on meetup.
2. If you are new to the world of modern board games – you are more than welcome to come and play! We have plenty of folk who will be happy to teach you games. Our only request is for you to have willingness to learn and try new games.
3. A perfect game will not always be available for everyone at the table but when picking a game to play, please consider what suits the playgroup best. For example, if someone says “I do not enjoy social deduction games,” maybe save Avalon for another day.
4. We want everyone to feel comfortable and relaxed in the space. Celebrate your wins with dignity. Avoid dominating the table with your behaviour – give everyone space to play.
5. Attendees may have different sensory needs. Please be accommodating, to ensure that everyone can participate.
6. Please be respectful of everyone’s personal space. Don’t touch anyone or their belongings without their consent. Do not manipulate other players’ game pieces without their permission.
7. Please help out other attendees if asked.
8. Participants are welcome to use sensory toys such as fidget spinners.
9. We ask that if you commit to playing a game, please try and stay engaged. Avoid scrolling your phone for extended periods during the teach or play. Be attentive and participate. If you’re feeling overwhelmed – it’s okay to ask for a break.
10. Our events are for over 18s. However, do take note that our events are not singles events. Please don’t make advances or behave in a suggestive manner.
11. Our events are held at pubs. Please extend the same respect and courtesy to pub staff as you do for other members. If you have any issues with the venue, please alert me (Efka) after the event if the issue is not urgent, and I will do my best to resolve it. If there is an urgent issue, do approach me first during the event and I’ll do my best to mediate.
12. Pubs allow us the use of their space with the view that folks will order beverages. Please order a beverage.
13. Dress code is casual but please maintain personal hygiene.
14. Cardboard Buddies is a bigotry free space. We will not tolerate overt, subtle or suggestive displays of (including but not limited to) racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, ageism or religious intolerance. Breaking this rule is the quickest way to get yourself ejected.
15. Challenging these rules is the second quickest way to get ejected.
