Marketing And All Things WordPress

Last month we looked at security certificates and zipping site content - thanks Justin and Dave for those talks! We were at 29 Park Place again, but this month we’re moving to a new venue: Tramshed Tech! If you don’t know where it is, it’s on Pendyris Street in Cardiff - you can’t miss it!

This month’s meeting is taking a marketing focus. A lot of us who use WordPress do so to either run our own business or for the running of a business which we’re employed in. And let’s not forget those businesses which specialize in running WordPress sites! All of these need at some point to think about marketing and answer some important questions about the role marketing plays in their WordPress site development. So this month we’re going to have a talk dedicated especially to this topic, followed by some networking, and then we’re going to open the floor to General Q&A - hopefully we’ll be able to answer any marketing questions you have and more!

Marketing - What comes first, the marketing or the site? | 1815 - 1900

Jay Stallard is a Digital Marketer at the Cardiff based Station Rd marketing agency. His talk is going to bring the role of marketing right to the fore of what we do as WordPress developers. This includes asking some important questions, such as which comes first: the site or the marketing strategy? Should our marketing strategy drive the site development or is site development independent of marketing?

For those of you who already have a site up and running but want to look into getting more visitors, Jay will look at a couple of marketing activities which might help you to promote your site even more.

Don’t worry, if Jay doesn’t cover something in the talk, there’ll be a chance to ask him a few questions at the end of his talk.

With so much mixed talent and skill in the room, this is the opportunity for you to identify a problem you’ve been having with your WordPress site and we’ll see if someone in the room can help you. Last time we ended up fixing problems with padding, theme responsiveness and site certificates. What question are you going to bring this time?
