As with any event or hike you may attend, please the day before, use Google Satellite to find out to make sure you know where you are going and how to get there.
HIKE DESCRIPTION:
Slower paced hike (1.8-2 mph) and nobody gets left behind. This trail is about 50 minutes from Belmont, NC in our sister town Shelby, NC and meanders along the awesome Broad River. This park is maintained by Cleveland County and has a $5.00 entry fee per person if you are not a Cleveland County resident. If you do live in Cleveland County, NC you will not have an entry fee and fee collection is based on the honor system.
There may be a nice breeze coming off the water and the River Trail is mostly under tree coverage. River Trail is 2.2 miles one way, for a total of 4.4 miles; flat and out-and-back along the Broad River. We can stop for a 15-minute break at the end of the River Trail if everyone wishes, before heading back to the cars. It will be warm outside so please remember to bring plenty of water.
