Details

Attention, Ghosts, Goblins, and Ghouls of the Great Outdoors!

The area is expecting rain for the beginning of our trip. Check the pictures for an image of the current forecast. This could change.

This October, prepare to embark on a thrilling 3-day escapade through enchanting woods, mystical trails, and perhaps...the unknown! Our journey begins on Friday the 13th and promises a delightful blend of spooks, camaraderie, and picturesque wilderness. Revel in the electrifying spirit of October amidst the tranquility of nature.

We'll meet and end at Cold Mountain Gap Trailhead. Aim to arrive by 11am. This should allow us to leave the Charlotte area before the morning rush hour. Our end time will vary. You're welcome to leave on day 2 or even stay late, but staying in a group has its benefits.

Directions: From Brevard, take US 64 west for 16 miles to Blue Ridge Road (NC 281). Turn right. Go 0.8 miles to Cold Mountain Road (SR 1301). Turn left. Go 5.8 miles to the end and turn left onto Panthertown Road. Go 0.1 mile on gravel to parking lot entrance, on right. (From Cashiers, take US 64 east for 13 miles to where Blue Ridge Road, NC 281, turns left at Toxaway.)

  • Day 1: Meet and greet, begin our journey, and set up camp.
  • Day 2: Full day of haunted hiking and eerie explorations, followed by a night of terrifying tales.
  • Day 3: Pack up, hike back, and drive home.

Dressing up isn’t just for the city slickers! Adorn your most creatively creepy yet comfy costumes that you can hike in, and let’s bring some eerie flair to the wilderness! Remember, comfort is key, so ensure your outfit is hike-friendly. (Dressing up is optional. Safety first!)

Once night descends and our campfire flickers amidst the dark woods, we’ll huddle together and share the spookiest, most hair-raising tales of adventures gone awry. Bring your best ghost stories and let’s see who can spin the most shiver-inducing yarn under the starlit sky!

Ensure your backpack includes all necessary hiking and camping gear, along with some warm layers for the chill October nights. Don’t forget to pack some treats...or tricks! If you'd like to coordinate meals or snacks, leave comments in the comment section below. These trails cross over a few streams for replenishing your water bottles.

While we’re out to have a fab-BOO-lous time, let’s remain mindful of our environment and fellow hikers. Respect all trail signs, keep our campsites clean, and remember – no real scares, please! Safety and consent come first in all our spooky endeavors.

Join us...if you dare, for a trek where every step is a mix of thrill, chill, and scenic fill! May your tales be spooky and your trails be kooky!
