Leisure Hike on the MST

Leisure Hikes are designed for beginners, families, or anyone else who wants a shorter hike and slower pace than the typical CMC hikes. For this hike, we'll meet at the Tanger Outlets parking lot (between Waffle House and Dillards) at 9:30. We'll head toward the Blue Ridge Parkway, drop a car off where the Hard Times and Shut-In Trails meet at MM 395, then park and start the hike at the Chestnut Cove overlook (MM 398.2). From there, we'll take the Mountains-to-Sea Trail back to our cars. We'll be heading generally downhill but will have a modest 600' of elevation gain (and lose about 1100' on our descent). I scouted this hike on Sunday (9/28) and the trail is in excellent condition.
