Let’s hike Table Rock S.C.! Our Pinnacle/Table Rock loop hike will be just over 10 miles, with approximately 3000 feet of ascent, lots of terrific views, and forecasted sunny weather with high temps in the upper 60’s. We’ll start from the Nature Center at Table Rock State Park, following the Pinnacle Mountain Trail. There are a couple of creek crossings early, but none that require getting your feet wet. There is also a good bit of scrambling over large boulders until you reach a large slab of rock called Bald Knob, part of a massive, ancient plutonic formation, with lovely views.
The trail continues up to the peak of Pinnacle Mountain, but with no views there, we will save our energy for later and instead turn back ½ mile to the Mill Creek Pass Trail and over to the Ridge Trail and begin our descent to the Table Rock Trail. Table Rock Trail will take us up to Governor’’s Rock and then to Table Rock for yet more ancient plutons and more grand views. We then make our way back down the Table Rock Trail to our cars.
Our only meeting place will be Highlands Square Shopping Center, 250 Highlands Square Drive, Hendersonville, off exit 49A of I-26 at 8:15. Park near the Wells Fargo ATM. We will carpool from there to Table Rock State Park. The Park has a $6 admission fee.
CMC Meetup is sponsored by the Carolina Mountain Club (CMC). You do not have to be a member of CMC to hike with me, but if you are not a member you should think about joining. It’s a terrific all volunteer organization that not only sponsors lots of hikes but engages in a significant amount of trail maintenance throughout Western North Carolina. Just follow the prompts from this link Join CMC or explore our webpage at carolinamountainclub.org
Plans change - I get it. If you sign up for the hike and then find that your plans have changed, please take the time to remove yourself from the hike so that we don’t unnecessarily wait for you at the meeting place.
The end time is just an estimate. How long we hike depends on the hikers and we are all different.
