Hike the grounds of the Carl Sandburg Home
Details
Michael Chapman, a volunteer at the Carl Sandburg National Historic Park, will join us on this special hike to talk about Carl Sandburg's life as poet of the people and the place he called home. We will hike the trails that poet/author Carl Sandburg enjoyed, hiking for 4-5 miles at a leisurely pace to allow for discussion. This is a small group tour of no more than 5 hikers. The tour of Sandburg’s home is separate from this hike and has a fee of $10 unless you are 62 or older, when it is $6. If you have the Senior Pass, it is free.
We will meet at the Hikers Parking Lot, 1928 Little River Road, Flat Rock, NC at 8:45 AM.
CMC Meetup is sponsored by the Carolina Mountain Club (CMC). You do not have to be a member of CMC to hike with me, but if you are not a member you should think about joining. It’s a terrific all volunteer organization that not only sponsors lots of hikes but engages in a significant amount of trail maintenance throughout Western North Carolina.
