We'll begin the hike off Forest Service Rd. 816, Black Balsam Rd. We'll hike out the MST to the Graveyard Ridge Trail, then connect up with the Art Loeb Trail and hike back over Tennent Mountain and Black Balsam. The elevation gain should be in the neighborhood of 1500 ft. but we'll be above 5500 ft. The mileage is around 7 or 8 miles. This is a strenuous hike because of the altitude of the hike. The views off the tops of these mountains is spectacular. You should of course wear proper hiking shoes, and be prepared for rain at these elevations the weather can be changeable. Bring plenty of water, snacks and a lunch.
We'll stop on the way home for drink and food.
