Hike to top of Green Knob

We will start off NC215 and hike into the Middle Prong wilderness on the the Mountains to Sea trail up to ridge below Mt. Hardy. From there we'll take the trail up Fork Ridge to the top of Green Knob taking great views of the balsams and the Laurel fork valley, Sams knob and the Shining Rock Wilderness. This trail will be overgrown(long pants recommended) in some areas as it is not well used and in a wilderness area. This hike clocks in around 10 miles and due the elevation gain I'd rate this hike as strenuous. Bring a lunch and snacks and water. Please be prepared for inclement weather with raingear. We will stop on the way home for diner and drinks. Although this event is free, you'll be expected to share the cost of gas to carpool.
