Hiking with Wild Ponies

In search of Wild Ponies on this two day section Hike on the Applachian Trail. From Whitetop mountain to Thomas Knob in Virginia. This will be approx 12 - 15 miles (6.5 to 9 miles if the ponies are hard to find Saturday) and 2,600 to 3000 feet elevation gain and loss out and back trip. Side trips the 2 highest peaks in VA (Mt Rogers and the top of Whitetop mtn) are possible for those interested. With a little luck we will bump into the herd of wild ponies that live on the mountain.
