Quintessential ride of Holland - 60 km around Leiden

Details
A ride to the quintessence of Holland:
- Channels
- Cycling lanes
- Beach
- Dunes
- Flower fields (okay, admittedly now without flowering flowers...)
- Lakes
- Windmills
- Cows
- Polders
- Cheese
- Old city
- CoffeesTop
The ride is about 60 km. We will go at moderate pace, maybe around 18 km/h.
This is the route: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/25964709
We will be meeting at Leiden Station, and then ride along a channel out towards Nordwijk, where we can take a rest on the beach and have lunch in one of the many restaurants on / close to the beach.
After refueling, we will continue through the dunes by Noordwijk northward and then turn inland towards Lisse and Keukenhof. From there we will take a turn towards Kagerplassen (a big lake). Ride through typical polder landscape, see some windmills and many more cows and potentially even can have some Cheese shopping and more importantly a Coffeestop (no, not coffeeshop), before heading to the old town of Leiden.
What to bring:
- a bicycle on which you are comfortable riding about 60 km
- some drink
- potentially sunscreen
- or rain protection
- money or IC card for lunch/ coffee stop
We don't plan to make a LONG stop on the beach, but if you want to toss yourself into the sea for a quick splash, we can accommodate that.
If you want to cut the ride short, you could go from Noordwijk back to Sassenheim and catch a train there.
End time is an approximation. We will see how the day evolves.
The ride will be cancelled in case of persistent rain.
