Community Suzuki Violin Group Class

Details

Come, build community while playing violin with others in the spirit of Suzuki kindness! As Dr. Suzuki said, “If love is deep, much can be accomplished.”

Our goal is to work together as neighbors and friends to build a community that nurtures kindness while learning with love.

Our community: Suzuki violin communities are committed to kindness and inclusion. We explore, celebrate, and amplify diverse cultures and traditions. We also maintain our commitment to building and sustaining an inclusive and equitable studio. Our studio does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed),gender, gender expression or identity, age, National origin (ancestry), disability, immigration status, or sexual orientation. All are welcome here!

Age: 3+ through adults

Playing Level: Whether you (or your child) is an absolute beginner or a more experienced player you’re welcome to join us!

What we’ll do: During our community classes we play through the Suzuki violin school repertoire and play games to strengthen our technique. This is an all levels class, however, we start with beginner material and work our way to more advanced pieces. Younger beginner friends are invited to watch or go home after they run out of songs to play.

Parent attendance:

  • Elementary and pre-school aged children must attend with a parent.
  • Middle/high school aged students may be dropped off at parent discretion. Pick up promptly. Parents are always however welcome to stay and observe.
  • Fee is collected for participating violinists, no fee required for observing parents.

Materials:

  • If you are reading music, bring a music stand
  • Your Suzuki books
  • Your violin

Performances: Members are invited to join us for community service performances (community events, nursing homes, etc). Performances announced as they are scheduled throughout the year.

Accessibility: Elevator access is available.

While we meet at the church, our group is not oriented to any specific religion or church.

Wednesdays 6-7:30 pm

Cost per violinist:
$15/ per class
Or $136/quarter (10 weeks)
* Fee collected goes to space rental, which in turn helps the church with projects like the food pantry and soup kitchen. Fee also provides us with piano accompaniment and considers Sensei’s time to organize and lead the group.

Students of other studios are welcome with your teacher’s approval.
