Beginner Beach Volleyball "The Clinic" - coached practice

Welcome to the 12th season of Carson Beach coached practices!

Weekly, recurring practice and play for beginners.
Do you want to learn beach doubles? Transition your indoor skills to the beach? Learn beach specific offense, defense, and often arbitrary beach rules? Then join us every Tue!

6-7pm – Learn basic skills on serving, passing, setting and hitting. Also review alternatives attacks over the net like pokey, prayer, tostada and flipper. Also learn about how to share the court, communicate with your partner. wind strategies. Record video of yourself and analyze.

7 to 8 – Play beach/sand doubles on a men's and a women's height net.

ATTENDEES and RSVPs - We are trying to build a group of people who attend regularly. The coaching is organized to build on previous weeks, so it is preferable to have some regular players. When confirming RSVPs, I will give preference to previously attendees.

BRING - a phone/device/tripod to record yourself at practice, water, sunglasses, bug spray and a beach chair.
Bring a Bluetooth speaker if you have one.
We use Spaulding / Mikasa King of the Beach ball (classic ball) and Wilson AVP ball, (popular at Carson and local tournaments). Please bring extras if you have them.

BE ON TIME - Warm ups start at 6 and clinic at 6:15.

COST - Free. If you want to contribute, bring water/energy drink or beer. Or volunteer to coach beginners on Tue!

VIDEO REVIEW - Option to record a drill and/or games at every practice. Bring phone and tripod. After practice, we can discuss your goals, and how your skills and tactics are achieving them.

CANCEL EARLY - If you cannot attend, please cancel 48 hours in advance as I need time to make sure we have 4 players. If you cancel within this window, you will be less likely to get invited in the future.

RAIN CANCELLATION - I hate to cancel for rain. If there is hour of playable weather, I will run practice. See you on the sand!

HELP WITH THE CLINICS - I am always looking for help with clinics. If you want to help organize, demonstrate, review video, or anything else, please let me know!

There are 2 free parking lots (one on each side of beach house). Go the the southern lot (on right looking at ocean) and we are located in front of the wooden sidewalk.

PARKING/PUBLIC TRANS - There are 2 free parking lots (one on each side of beach house). I get there 45 minutes early and wait for a spot. Some people park on Columbia Road and walk across to Carson. Some people park at Boston Teachers Union (not allowed but to my knowledge don't ticket) or nearby Passport Parking App spots. Accessible via MBTA Red line JFK stop.
Traffic is terrible and getting worse. Parking is the same. Add in a lot of extra time to make sure you arrive on time. Good luck and look forward to meeting you!
