Beyond the Frame: Transforming Photographic Composites into Encaustic art

Wendy Savage will discuss her most recent works that incorporate both straight and composited photography with photo-encaustic techniques. She will take us through some of the history and methodologies of the photo-encaustic process.
Wendy Savage Bio
Wendy Savage has a Bachelor of Arts in Photography from Florida State University and a Masters of Fine Art in Visual Arts from The Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University. Wendy retired back in 2015 from her job at NC State College of Veterinary Medicine. She worked there for over 30 years as a Medical Photographer and Visual Arts Specialist. In addition, Wendy was an adjunct instructor at Meredith College where she taught Photography, Digital Imaging and Book Design, in addition to teaching short weekend workshops in Digital color theory and Digital printing on Fabric.
Wendy’s professional affiliations include membership in Artspace Artists Association, The National Association of Photoshop Professionals, and Art & Science Collaborations to name a few. She received United Arts Council Regional Project grants in 2005/06 and 2010/11. Wendy has shown work in selected exhibitions and her work is published in many medical textbooks and journals in addition to a variety of art related publications.
