MEETS - South Bellevue - Steady/Moderate/Brisk/Brisk Plus

Come join us for the Mid-week Eastside Evening Training Series. Ride leaders for this week are:

Brisk plus – James Coliz and Alexa Volwiler
Brisk – Tim Thomas and Frieder Mack
Moderate – Bob Cornwell and Rob Latino
Steady -- Jennifer Korten and Marizel Miller

Ride Director this week: Alexa Volwiler

This week's route: Seattle Fishing Pier and Back 22.1 mi, 1300'. See map for details.

Please print a cue sheet.

PLEASE RSVP ahead of time if you plan to ride with us so we can recruit additional ride leaders as necessary. It's not required, but would be MUCH appreciated.

Midweek Eastside Evening Training Series – The MEETS rides are held Wednesday evenings at 6 pm. These training rides incorporate local hills between 20-25 miles and from ~1200 to 2000 feet of elevation. Four paces are offered: Brisk plus (18-19 mph on flats); Brisk (16-17 mph on flats); Moderate (14-16 mph on flats); and Steady. All use a common course each week. Rides are also be posted on the Cascade Daily Rides Calendar.

Riders should be able to sustain the appropriate pace for their selected group, read a cue sheet, change a flat (and have the requisite equipment), and have a positive attitude! Faster riders and better climbers are welcome to join but for them the ride becomes self-paced and self-guided. Riders can ride on their own, in small groups, or with the appropriate pace ride leader. A limited number of cue sheets will be available at ride start so please print your own just in case. The final route and cue sheets will be available the weekend prior to each ride.

Rest stops: There is a restroom at the park and ride but is a little distance away, so please plan accordingly.

Regroup policy: This is a training series, so we ride with the best interest of the group in mind. Riders may need to fall back to a slower pace group, unless you are riding in the last group, in which case the group will regroup as needed to avoid dropping riders. We want everyone to ride hard and have fun and there are multiple pace options to support all riders so no one should feel left behind. Please make sure that you print a cue sheet in case you want to ride ahead or get separated for some reason. Please make sure to print your contact information clearly on the waiver so that we can reach you as necessary.

Thanks Brisk for the short fun run. I was dying to be on the bike with all of you for longer but suffering from a bit of quadricep tendonitis in the knee, so prudence and the ice tray were calling me back home. See you on Saturday! Thanks Tim and Frieder (and sorry Rohit ... foggy brain today. :).

Sorry you had to miss the ride. Get that knee healed for Saturday.

Traffic made me ten minutes last, but I did catch up and ride with the moderate gang. Good luck with the healing.

*** UPDATED *** Map and cue sheet are new. This is the first time I've saved out a cue sheet. Please take a look and let me know if you see any issues. RidewithGPS doesn't handle the Alaskan Way detour north of Jackson/Main well. Our plan is to ride in the road, despite what the GPS track says.

Please note that the Chinatown/Pioneer Square portion has some rough roads. The weather will be awesome, so we will have some company on the roads!

There are two great training rides on Wednesday. Join us for MEETS (Mid-Week Eastside Evening Training Series) leaving Marymoor Park or South Bellevue Park and Ride at 6:00. Both rides will be 20-25 miles with[masked] feet of elevation depending on the week. Check your Cascade Daily Rides Meet-up or the calendar at Cascade.org for more information. RSVPs are greatly appreciated so we can be sure to have enough ride leaders.

Folks, the route will be updated on Tuesday to reflect the state of construction downtown. Monday night we are pre-priding it to be sure we're up to date on the current conditions.
