Exploring Portuguese Wines

Details

As a non-Portugese it is sometimes hard to choose a wine in a restaurant or shop. The grape varieties are local, the producers and wine regions are not so familiar. No Chardonnay and Merlot, but Arinto and Touriga. How to choose?

On November 23 Petra Bakker, a good friend, is organizing a wine tasting about Portuguese wines, aimed at expats. It will be a workshop-style event, to understand the basics of Portuguese wines from an international perspective. You will get to know and taste the most important regions and their local grapes, compared to internationally known wines.

So if you like chardonnay, but have hard time finding something comparable here? This is your opportunity to find out. This is aimed at wine lovers, not connoisseurs. No wine-knowledge is needed, just liking wine is enough.

The tasting is guided by Petra Bakker, an experienced teacher of (certified WSET) wine-courses for over 10 years in the Netherlands. A few years ago, Petra found a passion for Portugal and its amazing wines. Now she lives here and loves to share that passion with other wine lovers.
