First birthday bash - Cassandra improvements over the last year
Details
Our very first meetup was almost exactly a year ago - how time flies! To celebrate we're going to be having a Cassandra London 1st birthday bash. There may even be cake. The format of the evening will be as usual; talks, free beer (sponsored by Acunu (http://www.acunu.com/)), followed by the pub.
There will be three talks looking at changes and improvements in Cassandra over the past year, including taking a look at Cassandra 1.0. We're going to look briefly at the changes to Cassandra over the last year, before diving into some details on performance and Hadoop integration - two of Cassandra's key features.
Schedule:
7pm Arrive, enjoy the free beer and pizza
7.30pm Talk: Dave Gardner wraps up the first year of Cassandra London (a short intro talk)
7.45pm Talk: Tom Wilkie (http://twitter.com/#!/tom_wilkie) from Acunu on Cassandra performance, looking at improvements that have been made and what the future holds
8.10pm Talk: Jairam Chandar (http://twitter.com/#!/jairamc) from DataSift takes a look at the evolution of Hadoop support in Cassandra, including recent developments surrounding Brisk
8.30pm Finish up, head for the Slaughtered Lamb for more discussions
