Cast Your Shadows Behind The Screen

We are hosting an afternoon workshop for anyone interested in the technical and creative side of shadow puppetry. This session is designed for both beginners and those who have worked behind the screen before, focusing on the mechanics of light, movement, and silhouette construction. We will be working through a few classic techniques and experimenting with how different materials affect the quality of the image on the screen, so come prepared to get your hands dirty and experiment with a few prototypes.

Whether you are looking to build your first puppet or just want to spend a few hours troubleshooting your setup with others in the local community, this is a great chance to learn in a relaxed, collaborative environment. We will have basic materials on hand, but feel free to bring any sketches or character ideas you have been working on. If you plan on joining us, please make sure to RSVP so we can get an accurate headcount for supplies and space.

We are getting together for a hands-on session of Baton Rouge Shadow Play Behind The Screen. This is an opportunity for those interested in the art of silhouette storytelling to step behind the screen and experiment with light, shadow, and movement. Whether you have been practicing shadow puppetry for a while or are just curious about how these performances come together, this event is designed as a collaborative space to learn, share techniques, and see what we can create as a group.

There is no formal performance expected, just an informal gathering where we can play with different materials and lighting setups. It is a great way to meet others in the Cast Your Shadows Behind The Screen community and get a better feel for the mechanics behind the screen. If you are interested in exploring this medium or just want to see how it works in person, please let us know you are coming by sending over an RSVP so we can get a sense of the headcount.

We are hosting a casual afternoon session for anyone interested in the mechanics and storytelling side of shadow puppetry. This gathering is meant to pull back the curtain on how we build our figures and arrange the lighting to get those crisp silhouettes on screen. Whether you are a total beginner who just wants to see how it works or someone who has been experimenting with puppets at home, you are welcome to join us.

We will spend the time sharing techniques for cutting jointed figures, selecting the right materials for screens, and troubleshooting common shadow quality issues. It is a relaxed, hands-on environment where we can trade ideas and work through some light construction projects together. Please bring any work-in-progress pieces you might want feedback on, or just come ready to learn from the rest of the group.

If you think you can make it, please let us know by clicking the RSVP button. It helps us make sure we have enough materials and table space for everyone who plans to attend.

We are getting together in person for a casual session of Shreveport Shadow Play Behind the Digital Veil. This is an opportunity for the Cast Your Shadows Behind The Screen community to step away from our devices and engage with the concepts we have been exploring online in a more tangible, face-to-face setting. Whether you have been following our discussions closely or are just curious about how we bridge the gap between our digital personas and our physical lives, you will find a low-pressure space to share ideas and connect with others in the area.

Our goal is simply to have a real conversation about the work we do behind the screen and what it means to be part of this local collective. You can expect a relaxed atmosphere where we can talk through our projects and experiences without the usual digital noise. If you are interested in deepening these connections and seeing who is behind the profiles you interact with, please come by and join the conversation. It would be great to see you there, so please take a moment to RSVP if you think you can make it.
