Dublin to Concord via Iron Horse Trail (Moderate Difficulty)
Details
We will meet at Dublin Sports Grounds at 8:00 am (please be ready by then) and we will start the ride at 8:05 am.
** The Route **
The ride will start at the Dublin Sports Grounds near downtown Dublin (6700 Dublin Blvd, Dublin, CA 94568). We will enter Alamo Creek Trail from the parking lot and turn left onto Iron Horse Trail. From there it's a straight shot to Concord where we will pass through San Ramon, Danville, and Walnut Creek. We will then backtrack on Iron Horse and return to the Dublin Sports Grounds. The route is about 48 miles long and should take about 4.5 - 5 hours to complete if there are no pit stops.
** Special Considerations (read carefully) **
The trail is used by other pedestrians and cyclists and can be quite busy around the Danville area. The trail is mostly paved but can be bumpy in places because of tree roots and general trail wear. The trail is also separated in some places by roads with cross traffic. Bring plenty of snacks, water, and spares if you plan on coming.
Please wear a helmet and make sure your bike is in good working order (e.g., check tire pressure, chain tension, brakes, etc.) before attending the ride. In the event of an accident requiring repair, it is up to you to be able to make the repair. If riding a fixed-gear bike, it must be equipped with hand brakes. For fixed-gear riders, you are expected to have a basic understanding of how to ride a fixed-gear bicycle before attending an event. Attendees agree to not engage in reckless riding behavior such as racing, alley-cat riding, doing stunts, or anything else that can undermine the safety of other riders, pedestrians, or other road users during events.
** Release of Liability **
By RSVPing, you recognize and accept the risks of riding a bicycle, including but not limited to traffic accidents, pedestrian accidents, falls, and collisions, all of which can result in injury or death. Additionally, you recognize and accept the risks that any cycling route may contain hazards such as gravel, stones, glass, thorns, or other obstacles, all of which can result in injury or death. Those planning to attend the event must RSVP through Meetup.com, no guests are allowed. You and your affiliates agree to release organizers and other members of Castro Valley Fixed Gear/Single Speed Cycling from all liability in the event of equipment loss, damage, injury, or death.
