Beginner/Intermediate Overnighter - Highland Backpacking Trail, Algonquin Park

Backpacking overnighter on the Highland Backpacking Trail in Algonquin Provincial Park: 12.5 km to Head Lake on Saturday, then back by the same route on Sunday.

The terrain is hilly. The trail surface is rough. There will be mud, bugs, and other enjoyable backcountry amenities (if you don't know what that means, this might not be the trip for you). On the plus side, the air is clean, the park is beautiful, and there should be opportunities to go for a nice swim on both days if the weather's good!

Cost: $15 (Ontario Parks Backcountry / Reservation Fees + HST);
gas money if carpooling, as agreed with driver

Experience Level: beginner/intermediate - strong hiker with some camping experience, or backcountry canoe-tripper that has done a few portages, or experienced backpacker looking for a more relaxing trip, etc.

Gear/shelter/food: everybody equips/provisions themselves or arranges sharing with others; I have a couple things I can loan out if needed (message me)

NOTE: I will not ask any driver to go far out of their way to pick anyone up. If you need/want a ride, YOU must find a way to minimize the driver's extra time. (Rule of thumb: if picking you up will add more than 15 minutes to the one-way drive time, then you probably need to make additional arrangements!)
