A Note to eBikers and the Irish Goodbye
I’ve been organizing and leading rides for 10+ years. The intent is to be well organized and open for people to do as much of the ride as they want and be able to leave as they wish. My only request has always been to let me know if leaving so I have no concerns to deal with.
The past year groups of eBikers leave to extend the ride or eat lunch at a different place. Doing so with an Irish Goodbye is not cool. Don’t care if a group leaves – that is how the ride is structured – just inform me. Too much to ask?
On the other hand, people who hit up my Zelle to show support realize that it takes time, effort and preparation to pull together a group from which eBikers split off. It doesn’t just magically happen – it’s work that I choose to do.
eBikers additionally, – a snide comment to someone working hard to pedal up a hill as you whizz by is NOT Appreciated – At All. Comments like “Feel the Burn” or “My Battery is working hard” can make people want to say G F Yourself. This is the opposite of the experience I am hoping for. Perhaps choosing respect for people who pedal would lead to a more harmonious experience for everyone.
