Casual Chess Nights Over Coffee Boards is for people who enjoy a good game without the pressure of a rating chasing them around. We get together in the evenings, set up a few boards, and play. Some games are slow and thoughtful, some are fast and slightly reckless, and both are welcome. If you know how the pieces move you already know enough to join us, and if you have been studying openings for years you will find plenty of people happy to give you a proper challenge.

We try to keep the atmosphere friendly above all else. Players tend to rotate around the tables so you are not stuck with the same opponent all night, and it is normal to talk through a position afterwards to see where things went sideways. We share the odd puzzle, recommend books and channels we have found useful, and generally enjoy the fact that a game this old still has this much left in it.
