Big Sofa - music at Emily Place

We’re an open mic style event and welcome all instruments, genres, languages and musical ability. We welcome both performers and audience members who enjoy live music. It’s a great opportunity to connect with other amateur musicians.

Sign-up at the event is on a first come first serve basis. We’ll start with one song per performer/group and ask for additional performances once everyone has had a chance to perform. We ask that loopers and bands perform towards the end of the event. Each performance is allocated 5min, including setup time, please ensure your instrument is tuned before you are due to perform.

We are very fortunate to be supported by Aaiotanga Community Space. Please be respectful of the space and make a donation at each event, either in the donation box at the venue or bank transfer to Aaiotanga Peace Place Charitable Trust 38-9020-0859593-00 (‘Big Sofa’ in the reference).

Photos and videos may be taken on the day for promoting future events on the meetup app or our instagram page. Please let us know if you do not want your photo/video taken.

Rough schedule:
2pm - doors open and sign-up sheet made available
2.15pm- solo and small group performance
4pm - bands and loopers
4.30pm - jam/improv
4.45pm - end of event, pack up venue
5pm - food and drinks nearby
