Let's go food shopping!
Details
Hey Hungry CAT Riders!
We do love our fun rides, AND, we are an organization that advocates for people to also use their bikes for commuting and errands.
This ride will ease you into that functional territory with a trip to the Wegman's in Hanover Township. The ride itself is very short (unless you want to ride there from your house of course) - just 2 miles - and will traverse a road, neighborhood trail, and the Wegman's parking lot.
Overview of the route: we'll start in a small park at Hanoverville and Gwenmawr Roads, turn onto Hanoverville for a few minutes, then take a neighborhood trail to Crawford Dr. to Southland Dr, which will take us into the parking lot of Weggies.
Saddlebags aka panniers, a backpack, a bike trailer, or bungees with strong bags and a solid rear rack are ideal for carrying groceries. Most of us have panniers because a trailer can be fussy and backpacks can throw off your balance if you're not used to that weight on your shoulders. The bottom line is, whatever you have on hand can work.
If you don't have any of these, call CAT and we'll set you up!
We'll spend some time before we take off talking about all things getting to and from the store, details like where to park, transporting cold and hot things, and other tips and tricks we've learned over the years.
If you aren't ready to actually shop and schlepp your stuff, that is 1000% OK!! Just ride along and learn the ropes this time.
