What we’re about
Catholics recently heard in December 2023 about a document which offers a new way that couples in relationships not approved by the Catholic Church can ask for grace to help them be closer to God in the form of a blessing.
This includes man-woman couples who are not in a Catholic church-approved marriage, but it also extends to same-sex couples.
This new document from the Vatican and approved by Pope Francis is called Fiducia Supplicans. The document offers couples, including same-sex couples, a way to ask for a blessing from a priest which recognizes their desire for God and asks God to send them grace to help them be closer to Him.
The document has been received with much controversy among commentators who speak on Catholicism publicly. In the Dallas area very little discussion has followed from the institutional church, in an effort to avoid controversy and infighting.
But the conversation is taking place in our culture all around us every day.
This group will explore ways to build bridges between the various factions inside and outside the Catholic church who have an interest in this topic.
