Pittsburgh Walk of Fame
Details
In 2014 the National Park Service placed Pittsburgh’s Strip District on the National Register of Historic Places. It is a 13 block parcel of land that made significant contributions to the commercial history of Pittsburgh. It began as an industrial center with iron mills, foundries and factories, then transformed into a residential area, and then a commercial area. It is now part of a lively destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment. A new addition to the area is the Pittsburgh Walk of Fame. In October the first 10 inductees were immortalized with bronze stars (and a brief description of their contributions) on the sidewalk between the 18th and 19th blocks of Smallman Street. These individuals have significantly impacted Pittsburgh and the world through culture, industry, science, and other fields. Come and explore this new addition to the Strip District with us!
