Hidden Meanings in the Book of Genesis: A Catholic Interpretation to Scripture

Hidden Meanings in Genesis: Sacrifice, Struggle, and Providence is a warm, seminar-style online discussion for adults who want to better understand how Catholics interpret Scripture. We’ll look at three famous Genesis stories (Abraham & Isaac, Jacob wrestling, and Joseph) to see how the Church reads the Bible with both the literal sense and the deeper Christ-centered meaning. The session will include a simple framework for interpretation, guided discussion, and a short breakout activity where you’ll practice reading Joseph’s story using the method (no prep required). We’ll also spend a few minutes clarifying “literal vs metaphorical—does it matter?” and finish with open Q&A and a vote for next week’s topic.
